The African continent is the world’s second largest continent (after Asia), and it is indeed a land of beauty. It contains a lot of beautiful and possesses some of the world’s best tourist locations. Among the most beautiful places in Africa, Congo Republic will be our focus.
The Country
Republic of the Congo is located in the central-western part of sub-Saharan Africa, along the Equator. It is officially known as the Republic of the Congo, with its capital Brazzaville added parenthetically. This is to distinguish it from neighbour Democratic Republic of the Congo, popularly known as D.R.C.
Congo as a whole is sparsely inhabited, with more than half of its population living in the cities. The most populous city is the capital, Brazzaville, located in the southeast of the country. It is bounded by the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the southern and eastern borders. There is Gabon to the west, Cameroon and the Central African Republic to the north, and Angola to the southwest. It has a short coast on the Atlantic Ocean.

Some Beautiful Places in Congo Brazzaville
Odzala National Park
Odzala National Park – one of Central African national parks with greater biodiversity than other parts of Africa. It is the home to a wide range of birds, and species of animals like gorillas, elephants, antelope, hyenas, buffalo, and crocodiles. It’s a tourist attraction, and the authorities organize safaris to tour visitors around the park. Other popular activities for wildlife lovers would be the camps and instructed forest walks and treks.
Loufoulakari Falls
The Loufoulakari Falls – located 80 km south west of Brazzaville at the confluence of the Loufoulakari River and the Congo River. This is possibly the nearest Congo nature attraction from Brazzaville. It has beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside as you move along the confluence.
Bela Falls
Bela Falls – a touch with nature that will have you feeling refreshed. Exceeding over 150m in height, the falls offer a beautiful view of the Congo River and are a fine example of nature at its best. Bela Falls are situated amongst a small piece of the Congo’s pristine rain-forest. Although the noise from the crashing water can be heard from afar, the atmosphere is very peaceful and calming.

Lefini Faunal Reserve
Lefini Faunal Reserve – a reserve established mainly for the protection and conservation of the endangered species of western gorilla. The country’s civil war and poachers threatened the wildlife in the country’s national parks. There was also the threat of Ebola Virus that killed many gorillas. So to protect the Congo’s endangered species, the reserve was established in November 26, 1951.
The Ubangi River
The Ubangi River – the largest right-bank tributary of the Congo River in the Central African region. It marks the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo Brazzaville. Together with the Congo River, it provides an important transport artery for river boats between Bangui and Brazzaville.
Mayombe Mountains
The Mayombe Mountains – a mountain range spread over 2000 sq.km in the tropical rain-forest of the Congo Basin. It falls into three countries of Africa, namely, Angola, the Republic of Congo, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is still to be a protected area, and soon to be made into a biosphere reserve.
