Morocco is a land that overflows with beauty, with lots of color, warmth and charm. Here are some of the most beautiful spots in this attractive country.
The Draa Valley is the gateway to one of Morocco’s most famous desert dune fields. Located in the deep south of Morocco, it stretches from the city of Ouarzazate into the Sahara Desert. The Draa Valley is a stunning oasis home to Berber villages, sumptuous Kasbahs, streaming sand dunes and lush green plains. Also present are the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, endless stretches of palm trees and the Draa, Morocco’s largest river.
During ancient times, the Draa river crossed the desert and traveled hundreds of kilometers west until it joined the Atlantic. Today, most of this river has dried but its path still leads through one of the most fascinating landscapes in Morocco. Indeed, among the most beautiful places in Africa, Morocco has really beautiful spots!
Ouzoud Waterfalls – one of Morocco’s top natural sightseeing attractions. It is located near the Moyen Atlas village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal, 150 km northeast of Marrakech. Ouzoud means “the act of grinding grain” in the Berber language. The Ouzoud Waterfalls is the second tallest waterfall in Africa. It’s a huge touristic destination and one of the most visited and photographed natural sites in Morocco!
The bottom of the falls is accessible through a shaded path of olive trees. At the summit of the falls, there are a dozen old small mills that are still in use. While descending the gorges in a canyon, sometimes one does not distinguish the bottom which is nearly 600 metres down. The lush countryside here spans many different shades of green. This adds to the soothing and tranquil appeal of this little corner of Morocco!
The Atlas Mountains, a mountain range in central Morocco, extends from the Atlantic Coast to the Algerian border. Being North Africa’s highest mountain range, High Atlas is popularly known as the mountain of mountains. This place is a paradise for trekkers, especially from spring to autumn.
It runs diagonally across Morocco for approximately 1000 km, and its saw-toothed Jurassic peaks act as a weather barrier. Out of all the best places to visit in Morocco, this one is so beautiful that it will take your breath away!
